Digitally signing your tax return

The Intelligent Financial Group is upgrading to a Client Portal System (Sage) to allow for tax returns to be signed using a digital signature. This is an electronic letter box that provides a convenient and secure method of exchanging documents between accountants/tax agents and clients.
You (the client) will need to provide us with a current email address, preferably private so that you can be sent a one-off activation email that will include your user name. The instructions and prompts will be provided. Activation will allow your tax agent the ability to add your tax return to the Portal for you to download, read and digitally sign. To digitally sign the return, click on the ‘Pen’ Icon – this will add an additional page at the end of the document with your digital signature (name, date, time, Login ID and computer IP address). Once you have digitally signed the return, your tax agent will be able to retrieve it from the Portal for lodgement with the ATO. By using this efficient system, you will no longer need to print the return, physically sign the declaration pages to email back thus saving time and paper.
In addition, the Client Portal is a two-way system enabling you to upload information to us when necessary.
